JUST before Christmas I got back into an old habit, spending hours looking for, discovering and becoming lost in music I'd never heard before. This was aided greatly by my shiny new phone (I'm catching up with the current decade) and an Internet radio app I found for it. I subsequently spent hours mostly listening to TripleJ, the Australian equivalent - but in every way superior* - to Radio 1. I particularly lapped up the playlists of Roots n' All, a weekly 3 hour show devoted to blues, country, folk, soul and world music... but, y'know, the decent stuff. Here are 5 offerings from my explorations...
...I've put Matt Corby last, because if I put him first you'll probably put the video on repeat and never get any further.
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Busby Marou
I wish I could play the guitar this well...
The Lion's Roar - First Aid Kit
A Swedish folk duo with a rather haunting sound
Johnny Got A Boom Boom - Imelda May
Irish rockabilly songstress who caught my attention on Jools Holland's Hootenanny
Lonely Boy - The Black Keys
Cracking rock song
Matt Corby - Brother (acoustic)
There were plenty of other songs I wanted to include this month, including a cover of an unexpectedly controversial song from the 80s, some full-on foot-stomping country and even some doowop (yeah, surprised me too), but then I heard this acoustic version of a song that's doing very well on the other side of the world. There was no question, I had to include it here. I like this. A lot.

*in that they actually play music, support unsigned artists and care about music with real instruments in.

Good choices! :)
My husband and i ended up being now lucky when Albert could finish up his researching through the ideas he acquired through the site. It's not at all simplistic to just possibly be offering secrets and techniques that many a number of people may have been trying to sell. And now we understand we've got the writer to be grateful to for that. Those explanations you've made, the simple blog menu, the friendships your site assist to create - it's mostly awesome, and it is assisting our son and the family recognize that this subject matter is interesting, which is certainly wonderfully important. Many thanks for everything!
